"Joy is in the sharing—of food, stories, and hearts."

Hi, I’m Rachel, the founder of Joyful Plates. I started this journey out of a desire to share the flavors and stories of my childhood with my children, even though we were living far from home.

When I first moved to Australia, I struggled to find resources to teach my kids about our cultural heritage. I wanted them to experience the joy of cooking and cultural exploration just like I did growing up in Singapore. That’s when I created Joyful Plates—a place for families to cook, learn, and celebrate cultures together.

For me, food has always been a way to connect and bond with family. I wanted to offer families in Australia the chance to experience that same joy and create memories around the table.

At Joyful Plates, our workshops, events, and cooking kits are designed to help families explore cultures, cook together, and connect. It's not just about cooking—it's about inspiring kids to appreciate their heritage, discover new cultures, and share meaningful moments with their loved ones.

Through Joyful Mates, I’m building a community where families can support one another in their cultural exploration journey.

I’m so excited for what’s ahead and would love for you to join us in bringing joy to more families. Let’s cook, learn, and discover the world—one plate at a time.

Feeling Thankful

I feel incredibly blessed to have found such like-minded individuals who share my passion for food, education, and creating meaningful experiences. Together, we’ve built a team that is not only dedicated to the mission of Joyful Plates, but also deeply committed to making a positive impact on families and communities. Their enthusiasm, creativity, and support are truly the heart of this journey, and I couldn’t be more grateful for each of them. We are united in our vision to inspire joy, connection, and learning, one plate at a time.
